When the best leader’s work is done the people say, ‘We did it ourselves.’

Prep for Session
- At this session, we are going to be working in small collaborative teams, so please be prepared to share out some of the discovery research you do between sessions. Remember that discovery research can include (a) secondary research guided by your How Might We questions, (b) research into local organizations working in the solution space around the problem, and/or (c) empathy interviews with people in various roles affected or related to the problem space. Here are our tips on empathy interviewing in case you’d like to review.
- Before our session, please organize the most interesting things you’ve uncovered during your discovery phase on a Rose, Thorn, Bud framework. Here is the handout version of the Rose, Thorn, Bud or you can visit the MIRO and add your ideas directly to the board that we’ll be using next session (there is a space for each person). Try to have a handful of Roses (exciting, positive, helpful) things that you’ve uncovered, a handful of Thorns (problems, negatives, barriers), and a handful of Buds (opportunities, surprises, things of interest). The categories are meant to help sort and synthesize, but don’t worry if things seem like they might fit in a few categories, just go with your gut!
